Our mission
Albacore Park is a non-profit organization, operating under the Portsmouth Submarine & Maritime Association, whose mission is to honor, interpret and educate about the USS Albacore, the maritime heritage of the New England Seacoast region, and the U.S. submarine service.
Who we are
In 1981, the Portsmouth Submarine & Maritime Association (PSMA) was founded in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to support and steward the former United States Navy submarine known as the USS Albacore (AGSS 569). The PSMA is responsible for the management, operation, and maintenance of Albacore Park, which includes the preservation and display of the USS Albacore and interpretation of her role in the development of modern submarine technology. The goals of the PSMA are to maintain a memorial dedicated to the members of the United States Submarine Force, to increase the public awareness of the maritime history of the region centered on Portsmouth, New Hampshire, with particular attention to shipbuilding and shipping activities, and to display the historic research submarine, the USS Albacore, to the general public.
